Meet our Addiction Treatment Staff
John Knaack is the founder and CEO of Beach City Treatment. “Johnny” has been in the field of addiction treatment for over a decade. He started as a driver and has worked his way up through the industry. Prior to founding Beach City Treatment, he was involved in the restructure, licensure, and accreditation of multiple facilities.
Johnny has developed a reputation as being a passionate leader. He expects and inspires quality client care from his staff and leads by example. He has hand picked the Beach City Treatment team and he continues to play a vital role in the day-to-day operations. You will often find him spending time at the facility getting to know the clients and becoming an integral part of their recovery. Johnny truly cares about the safety and success of each client that enters Beach City and he is also very active in the Southern California recovery community.

Nathan Stump CADC II
Residential Program Director
Nathan has worked with hundreds of men and women in order that they not only achieve long-term physical sobriety, but a fulfilling life of recovery as well.
Nate runs our residential treatment program at the Laguna House, and he emphasizes that the clinical staff “meet the client where they are.” The program’s goal is to facilitate long-term change by addressing the underlying issues that may be complicating recovery.
Nate has a big heart and many very happy people in recovery credit him for helping them truly thrive in sobriety.

Whitney is the first person almost everyone who comes to Beach City talks to. She is known for providing a sympathetic ear to those who are facing the most difficult of times. Whitney always manages to improve the mood of whoever calls her by providing knowledge and potential solutions.
Whitney has earned the reputation of being an advocate for the recovery of those in need, and she has a vast network of resources to help those who reach out to her.
Prior to joining the Beach City Treatment team, Whitney earned her BA in English Studies from UNLV. She has an extensive background in working with horses as she is also a very skilled equestrian, for which she has won numerous awards. Whitney’s compassion for animals is second only to that for people.

Jed Bellino RADT 1
Detox Program Director
Jed Bellino is the Beach City Treatment detox Program Director. Prior to working with Beach City Treatment Jed was instrumental in the opening, operations and accreditation of another treatment program in San Clemente, CA. Jed’s background includes over a decade of business management experience and he has been active in the recovery community for over 20 years. It was a natural progression for him to incorporate these two parts of his life in order to fulfill his passion for helping others.
Jed is known for his straightforward, direct yet compassionate approach with clients. Jed has had success helping those who have previously attempted to obtain sobriety and been deemed very difficult cases by previous clinicians. Jed continues to believe in our clients when it seems all others have given up. Jed is also known to stay in contact with clients and their families long after discharge to monitor their success. He believes that recovery does not stop at the time of discharge.
Jed works tirelessly to ensure a quality work environment for his staff. He knows that an effective culture of recovery starts at the top and translates down to the clients.

Melanie Dewald BA, CATC III
Director of Marketing and Outreach
Melanie brings creative passion to her outreach and marketing role at Beach City Treatment. Prior to joining the Beach City Treatment team, Melanie earned her CATC III from Saddleback College, and before that she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Montana, where she graduated with honors. Melanie then went on to achieve a successful sales and marketing career in the telecom industry, but her true passion was always to help others who struggle with addiction.
Before coming to Beach City Treatment, Melanie worked as a crisis counselor and was instrumental in helping hundreds of men and women get into treatment and on the road to recovery. Melanie values the relationships that Beach City Treatment has established in the community.

Bronwyn Aldea LVN
Lead Detox Technician
Bronwyn has been working in the field of recovery since 2015 when she completed her LVN certification at American Career College.
Before coming to Beach City Treatment, she was instrumental in setting up the detox program at a women’s treatment center in Costa Mesa. There, she worked with hundreds of recovering women to help them get started on the path of recovery with secure footing.

Deborah Neal CADC I
Deborah Neal is a case manager at Beach City Treatment. Deborah has been working with clients in the field of addiction recovery for more than five years. Deb started her career as a clinical technician and then was promoted to resident advisor and then case manager. She brings an empathetic approach to treating those suffering from the disease of addiction, as she herself came from a family that was affected by the destruction that addiction causes.
Deborah is a certified alcohol and drug counselor and she has the ability to connect with clients and help them through positive affirmation and straightforward loving confrontation.

Colin Cobb RADT 1, CAADE Intern
Colin has been working in the field of recovery for the past eight years. He completed his studies in AOD counseling at Saddleback Community College in Mission Viejo.
Before coming to Beach City Treatment, Colin held many roles in the treatment field, from operations manager to case manager. Colin brings passion, enthusiasm and experience to the clients he works with at Beach City.

Roian has been working in the field of recovery since 2014. Before coming to Beach City Treatment, she was instrumental in setting up a residential program in Fountain Valley where she wore many hats and worked closely with hundreds of recovering men and women to help them get started down the uplifting path of recovery.
